Bloemfontein team shares firefighting expertise with the farmers

The Bloemfontein Team taught the LandCare farmers about fire and how to use their newly donated fire fighting equipment.

The farmers were chosen because of the recent fires that have been ravaging and destroying their farms. The Working on Fire team taught them how to do fire prevention through construction of fire breaks.

They were also taught to check wind direction n and ensure the FDI allows for burning. Each aspect of constructing fire breaks was thoroughly explained by the team’s Type 1 Crew Leader, Thapelo Francis Jan.

With the knowledge they gained, the farmers then headed to a designated area where they practised how to burn and each farmer was given special attention as they practiced
