Communities in Limpopo learn more about veld fires

24 Apr,2016Fire Awareness

Limpopo’s Community Fire Awareness Officer has embarked on a fire awareness journey where he is educating communities about the impacts of veld fires.

Since the beginning of the year, hundreds of community members had the opportunity to learn more about the fire behaviours and about precautions they should take in order to make their homes fire safe. Through the fire awareness workshops and campaigns many communities are fire safe and ready for the fire season that lies ahead.

“Through the workshops I hope to make a difference and plant a seed of knowledge about fires in community members and hope they will take what they have learned and implement it into their homes and societies”, said Sello Matlhare, the Community Fire Awareness Officer in Limpopo.

WoF is playing a leading role in spreading fire awareness messages across the country with the intention to reduce veld fires caused by negligence in the communities.
