Elderly Frankfort residents equipped with fire safety tips
Elderly people who are members of the Iketsetseng Lunch Club in Frankfort in the Northern Free State were equipped with fire safe knowledge. This was done in preparation for the winter fire season which looks like it will be coming earlier than expected.
The Community Fire Awareness Officer, Glodinah Mofokeng, shared some fire safety tips during a workshop with senior citizens ahead of the fire season. The elderly people and children are the most vulnerable to fires.
They learned about hazardous objects and materials that could expose them to fire danger.
During the workshop they went outside and discussed how they can do risk reduction. The lunch club is located near a mini illegal dumping site and they agreed to take the necessary precautions to ensure they were safe from fires during the fire season.
