Firefighters return home after successful Indonesian campaign

15 Dec,2015WoF International Deployments

All our firefighters have now returned home safely to their bases throughout the country after a successful deployment to Indonesia where they assisted in fighting destructive fires in South Sumatra.

The last group of Working on Fire personnel arrived at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg on Tuesday, 1 December 2015.

Asia Pulp & Paper (APP), an Indonesian company, called for WoF to assist them with fighting ongoing fires which have been exacerbated due to the extraordinary El Nino climatic conditions.

WoF Managing Director, Llewellyn Pillay, thanked the firefighters for having represented the company and South Africa with pride and dignity.

“Our fire fighting capabilities have now become renowned internationally after we also had a successful deployment to Canada in July and August this year and we will engage in more of these international fire fighting cooperation agreements in the near future”, Pillay said.
