From fire fighter to aspirant farmer
Teboho Mofokeng from the Clarens Team in the Free State is passionate about agriculture and one day he would like to see himself as a successful farmer.
He manages the garden project with the help of a few team members at the Clarens base. In this garden he ploughs cabbage, pumpkin, tomatoes, beetroot and carrots.
Teboho became a firefighter early 2011.
However he took over the garden project in 2014 when the person who ran it could not maintain it anymore. He said they have already established a market within the Clarens area. “We supply local restaurants and shops with the vegetables from the garden. I want to see the project expands because we like agriculture”, he said.
“We have plans for the future for growing and selling chickens and eggs. We are still in talks with the owners of the base. I love farming’, he concluded.
