New driver tops Free State driver’s training camp
Siyabulela Lima, a driver who completed his probation two months ago, was a top student at the Driver Yellow Card Training Camp which was held in the Free State.
Both on theory and practical this young man achieved an aggregate of 95 percent. The week long training camp was held at the Jimmy Roos Academy in Dewetsdorp.
Mali is a driver based at the Rouxville team and he was among 49 others who were getting their skills polished to ensure safety when they are transporting teams. The drivers were taught about safety on the road and on the fire line where they drop off firefighters.
They learned to inspect their vehicles to ensure they are safe for traveling.
Lima told WoFire News that it was unbelievable that he was a top student. He attributes his victory to a positive attitude.
“When I came here I told myself that I want to be a top student and everything went as I had planned because my attitude was positive towards everything,” he said.
He was grateful for the training. “Everything they taught us here was useful. The instructorsemphasized the importance of road safety and how we should adhere to road rules.”
