Our Two-Oceans Marathon Runners fly the WoF flag – #WOFHEROES
Working on Fire recently made it possible for Sifundo Sithole, the KZN Provincial Training Officer, to participate at the Two Oceans Marathon in Cape Town.
Sithole was recruited by WOF as a firefighter in 2007 and has since moved up the ranks. Because of the strict fitness requirements for fire fighters he developed a passion for running and has explored many marathons. He started his professionally running career in 2014, with the Nedbank Comrades Marathon and later the Two Oceans Marathon.
“After entering for the race, I tried looking for accommodation and transport but I found out that the Runners Village which usually accommodates underprivileged runners was fully booked,” said Sithole.
He then turned to WOF for assistance and a week before the race the Managing Director approved his request for sponsorship.
“I’m very grateful to WOF for giving me this opportunity to take part in this race, not forgetting my General Manager, Carl van Loggerenberg and the KZN Provincial Office for their support.”
