The Head of the Department of Industrial Relations, Monde Maqula, has come up with an initiative of empowering Working on Fire managers to be able to deal with the issues of discipline and disputes in the working environment.

Maqula’s department has conducted training workshops in six provinces already and covered areas such as managing staff, chairing disciplinary hearings, how to conduct investigations, initiate/prosecute in a disciplinary hearing and dispute resolutions.

The training was presented by Iqiniso Forensic investigations in conjunction with Industrial Relations Department. Regional Manager in Mpumalanga, Bongani Mashiane, told WoFNews that they made sure that they consume every information they received during the training.

“I have learned about disciplinary procedures and prosecuting and this information has improved my skills. Before the training there were many things that we did not know and not doing it during the hearings. Thank you to Mr. Maqula for providing us with this opportunity”, said Mashiane.

Maqula said that since they implemented the training he is receiving positive and encouraging feedback.

“The main objective is to create a harmonious and productive environment in the workplace”, said Maqula.
