Working on Fire is proud to be hosting its first Golf Day Fundraiser on Sunday, 31 March 2018 at the beautiful Boschenmeer Golf Estate in Paarl. All the proceeds raised will be used for the benefit of the 2019 WOF Kids Care Packages Project.

December 2018, WOF’s Social Development Department successfully distributed 1 850 WOF Kids Care Packages to qualifying children of WOF firefighters and High-Altitude Team rope technicians.

These children’s moms and dads – the WOF firefighters and HAT Rope Technicians – work long and dangerous hours, fighting unwanted wildfires. They often sacrifice time with their families to go save lives, properties and the environment in remote areas, late into the night.

These Care-Packages served as gifts of hope providing for essential personal care basics, school supplies and educational toys to children from new-born to 18 years of age.

We at Working on Fire would like to continue sowing into this initiative in 2019.

In 2018, these personalised boxes were generously donated by Working on Fire staff members, management, partners and kind-hearted individuals and companies. If we intend to enlarge the number of children and families blessed by these Care-Packages, we will have to source additional funding.

The WOF Golf Day fundraiser, scheduled for later this month will serve both as a fundraiser and an awareness campaign around this inspiring project. People who wish to sow into this initiative are encouraged to either become a sponsor (main sponsor, prize sponsor, watering hole sponsor etc) or to enter as a player.

“The WOF Kids Care Package initiative is one way we would like to continue honouring our firefighters who make enormous sacrifices every year in saving lives and property,” says Trevor Abrahams, Managing Director for Working on Fire.
