Working on Fire Free State Celebrates World Aids Day
Working on Fire in the Free State celebrated World Aids Day in various towns across the province to unite in the fight against HIV , show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died.
The WOF Marquard Team marked the day with a few stakeholders, including the SAPS, the Community Work Programme, Youth Against HIV /Aids and many community healthcare workers. The Theunissen Team celebrated the day with one of its team members delivering a speech and a poem for the Reseamohetse Public School learners and teachers.
The Vrede Team conducted HIV /Aids awareness by teaching the public about HIV/ Aids and how they could protect themselves. They were joined by several NGOs such as the VEP, PADAF, HEAPS and the Department of Health.
The Zastron Team attended an event that highlighted the importance of the day and the devastating effects the disease had on families, communities and the nation as a whole.
The Golden Gate Team joined SAN Parks in commemorating the day. At many of the World Aids Day events held in the province a moment of silence was observed and candles were lit for those who have lost their lives to HIV/Aids.
