During the hot and dry summer season, wildfires are more prevalent and difficult to control. Almost 99% of all fires are caused by human negligence, by people being careless with open flames. Free State, North West, and Northern Cape provinces are already dealing with raging wildfires that are threatening farmers livelihoods and food security.
